About NDT Advanced Courses

The following are examples of advanced courses we are able to present if we have enough interest from therapists who have already completed either the NDTATM Approved or Bobath Basic Certificate course.

NDTATM Advanced Baby Course

This course involves actively treating infants with central nervous system dysfunction. The minimum requirement for participants is one year’s experience in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy after successful completion of a six - eight week NDT(USA) or Bobath basic certificate course in in the Treatment and Management of Individuals with Cerebral Palsy and other Neuromotor Disorders.

NDTATM Approved Advanced Upper Extremity Course

Presenters: Kate Bain and Lezlie Adler

Content
1. Functional perspectives of upper extremity control.
2. Evaluation of normal upper extremity motion.
3. Development of the upper extremities.
4. Biomechanic and kinesiological considerations of upper extremity function.
5. Treatment of the shoulder girdle for reach and weight bearing.
6. Treatment of the elbow, forearm and wrist.
7. Treatment of the hand.

Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
1. Identify significant aspects of normal development that impact on the acquisition of upper extremity control.
2. Evaluate, plan and implement treatment procedures that improve reach, grasp, release and manipulation, utilizing the treatment philosophy presented in the basic course.
3. Demonstrate the use of therapy techniques within a functional task upper extremity.
